Third-party services
For details on the specific third-party companies we use (AI analysis, chat, web search, authentication, storage, and payments), what data is sent to each, and how they process it, see our Privacy Policy.
Data collection and privacy
A dedicated Privacy Policy describes categories of data, retention, transfers, your choices, and our use of operational and protective signals (including moderation of abuse and, where applicable, detection of related accounts or misuse). This section summarizes key points for contractual context.
Data collected
- Account information: Email address and authentication/session data needed to keep you signed in
- Video inputs and source material: YouTube video IDs / URLs you analyze, and transcript or extracted video text we process to provide the service.
- Generated analysis outputs: Summaries, outlines, action items, and suggested questions derived from that video material. They describe the video you chose to analyze; we store them with your account so you can use the product.
- Chat data: Follow-up questions, chat responses, and related conversation history from in-product chat.
- Subscription data: Tier, subscription status, and usage / quota information
- Extension settings: User preferences such as whether the extension is enabled and which optional focus filters are turned on
Data storage
- Extension storage: Browser extension storage is used to cache settings, session-related data, recent analyses, outlines, actionables, suggested questions, chat history, subscription usage cache, and related local product state
- Cloud storage: Relevant account and saved product data may be synced to cloud storage providers for signed-in users
- Retention: Data is retained while an account is active and may be retained longer where required for legal, security, billing, or compliance purposes
Data sharing
- Third-party services: Data is shared with AI providers, web search providers, authentication / storage providers, and payment processors as described above
- No sale or unrelated handover: SkipBait does not sell, rent, or trade user data, and does not hand it over to third parties for their own advertising or unrelated commercial use. Sharing is limited to the service providers described above (who process data to run the service), and to legal requirements where applicable.
- Legal requirements: Data may be disclosed if required by law or to protect rights, users, or the service
Legal protections
1. Service availability and disclaimers
SkipBait is provided 'as is' without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee: continuous, uninterrupted, or error-free operation; specific processing speeds, especially during operational safeguards; accuracy or completeness of AI-generated summaries; availability of transcripts for every video; compatibility with every browser surface or Chromium variant.
2. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, SkipBait and its operators shall not be liable for: indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages; loss of profits, data, or business opportunities; errors or inaccuracies in AI-generated content; service interruptions; actions of third-party services. Total liability shall not exceed the amount paid by you to SkipBait in the 12 months preceding the claim.
3. Intellectual property
SkipBait and its content are protected by copyright. You may not: copy, modify, or distribute SkipBait's code or content; reverse engineer; use SkipBait's branding without permission. YouTube video content remains the property of its respective creators.
4. User-generated content
You retain ownership of your chat messages. By using SkipBait, you grant SkipBait a license to: store and process your content to provide the service; use anonymized, aggregated data for service improvement; share content with third-party AI services and web search providers as necessary.
5. Acceptable use
You may use SkipBait only in compliance with applicable law and these Terms. The Service is intended for ordinary personal use. You must not misuse the Service or use it in ways that harm SkipBait, other users, or third parties. Subscription scope, limits, and features follow checkout and in-product disclosures. Summarized content remains subject to YouTube Terms of Service and applicable creator rights.
We may suspend or terminate your access, or restrict parts of the Service, if we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms or misused the Service. Where reasonable and not prevented by urgency or law, we will try to notify you first. Serious misuse may warrant immediate action without refund and may affect promotional or goodwill accommodations.
6. Subscription terms and plan differences
SkipBait provides a free tier and paid Starter and Pro tiers (names and benefits may evolve; see checkout and pricing materials at purchase). Paid subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled according to Stripe or the payment provider’s disclosures. Cancelling prevents future renewal and you generally retain access until the end of your current prepaid period unless we state otherwise during checkout.
Unless otherwise labelled at purchase, Starter and Pro both include SkipBait’s full bundled automated analysis artifact for eligible YouTube transcripts (“analysis bundle”). Plan differences principally concern chat allowances (maximum messages per billing cycle or analogous caps), optional throughput, ancillary features highlighted at checkout (such as web search), and promotional entitlements, not a progressively smaller analysis bundle entitlement between those paid tiers unless we explicitly advertise otherwise elsewhere.
Free-plan limits, quotas, chat availability, resets, durations, geography, and preview policies appear in-product and may evolve; they control until you upgrade.
Refunds, taxes, invoicing specifics, renewal timing, downgrade behaviour, upgrades, proration rules, paused subscriptions, invoices, receipts, disputes, promotional codes, gifting, reseller channels, statutory cooling-off notices, jurisdiction-specific consumer rights notices, billing portal links, Stripe customer portal disclosures, and similar commercial matters follow the disclosures presented at signup and SkipBait’s then-current billing FAQs. Unused promotional entitlements lapse unless expressly stated.
We may modify subscriptions, ancillary features, or pricing prospectively upon fair notice where required (for example updating this page or email). Continuing use after the effective date may constitute acceptance. Material adverse changes affecting prepaid periods may honour prior entitlements solely to the extent law demands.
7. Chrome extension permissions
SkipBait requires: storage and identity permissions, and network access limited to youtube.com, our backend service, and our authentication and storage provider. SkipBait only accesses YouTube pages when you are actively viewing them. We do not request access to unrelated websites or your browsing history.
8. AI-generated content disclaimer
Summaries and analyses are generated by AI and may contain errors. AI interpretations may not reflect the video creator's intended meaning. Web search results are provided by third parties and may be outdated or inaccurate. Always verify important information from original sources. SkipBait is not responsible for decisions made based on AI-generated content.
9. YouTube terms compliance
SkipBait operates independently and is not affiliated with YouTube or Google. By using SkipBait, you agree to comply with YouTube's Terms of Service and respect video creators' rights.
10. Data deletion and account termination
You may delete your account at any time. Upon deletion: account data will be removed from our servers subject to legal, billing, and compliance retention needs; some cached local browser / extension data may remain until cleared from your device; and active subscriptions must be handled according to the applicable billing flow. SkipBait reserves the right to terminate accounts that violate these terms.
11. Outline and actionables creator attribution
Outlines, section summaries, and actionables are SkipBait's AI-generated interpretation of the creator's content, reflecting their structure, main points, framing, and recommendations. They are not SkipBait's editorial take. This interpretation may not reflect the creator's intended meaning. Always verify important information from the original video.
12. Operator and governing law
SkipBait is operated from Hong Kong SAR. International users are responsible for complying with applicable local laws.
13. Changes to these terms
SkipBait may update these terms from time to time. We may notify you by posting changes on the website or in the product. Your continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms, where permitted by law.
